From 47 Counties.
To the World.
The story of Mpesa Foundation Academy is still being written - by its graduates.
Built to produce leaders who transform communities
Mpesa Foundation Academy opened on 23 February 2016 on an 88-acre campus in Thika, Kiambu County. On day one, 94 students - one boy and one girl from each of Kenya's 47 counties - arrived to begin building something new.
A co-educational, fully residential boarding school designed for excellence: an 800-seat auditorium, sports complex, swimming pool, music centre, technology labs, and a resource centre. The campus was purpose-built as a place where future leaders would be shaped.
Established by the M-PESA Foundation, a charitable trust powered by Safaricom, the Academy was built on the conviction that Kenya's next generation of leaders comes from every corner of the country.
CLAIRE
Six values, one standard. Everything the Academy stands for, carried forward by its graduates.
Curiosity
Ask. Explore. Never stop learning. The best leaders are relentlessly curious about the world around them.
Leadership
Lead with purpose, from wherever you stand. Leadership is not a title - it is a decision to act.
Accountability
Own your actions and their impact. Good governance starts with individuals who hold themselves responsible.
Innovation
Create solutions others have not imagined yet. Kenya's challenges demand creative, original thinking.
Responsible Citizenship
Give back to the communities that made you. Privilege carries obligation - act on it.
Excellence
Pursue mastery in everything you do. High standards are not aspirational at MFA - they are the baseline.
Independent Elections
Overseen by the AEC - a body appointed independently of the executive. Every result is verified.
Open Governance
Minutes, financial statements, and policy documents published for every member to read.
Member-Driven
Every decision about leadership is made by the alumni body, not by a committee. Your vote counts.
